Introducing Google AdWords Enhanced

Calling all Google-Ads users! We have excellent news for you. With an increase in online marketing (and no sign of slowing down) Google has stepped up it’s game for marketers, advertisers, and customers alike. Introducing: Google AdWords Enhanced.

This revamped version of Google Ads has been developed to be even more relevant and user friendly. Now, when you search for something, Google’s developers have taken brand new factors into account such as your location, the device you’re using, and what time of day it is. Here’s an example:

It’s a Wednesday afternoon, you’re just leaving work and you’ve got a sudden craving for some Korean BBQ. Break out your tablet and give Google a shot. Your results will be based on the fact that it’s around 5PM on a weekday and you’re in the middle of downtown. Chances are you’re looking for take-out rather than a restaurant seeing as it’s almost dinner time and most restaurants will be slammed with customers. You’re also going to want locality, so the search results will show you all the best options within a decent walking distance of you. And voila! With Google AdWords Enhanced, you’ll get the best possible results every time.

Clearly there’s an advantage for customers here; everything is faster, better, and easier. Have no fear marketers and advertisers, Google hasn’t forgotten about you! Enhanced campaigns will roll out to advertisers as an option beginning in February. They plan to upgrade all campaigns in mid-2013. With AdWords Enhanced you’ll be able to reach your customers on the go – just as you did before – but now, developers have taken context and measurement needs into account. How? The same way they’ve made things easier for customers, but with a slight twist. Here’s an example for you:

You own a local hair salon and lately, business has been a little slow. Your regular customers are in between haircuts and it’s not a busy time of year compared to prom or wedding season. Not to worry, you can reach a whole new clientele to fill the gap. Now, you can use your laptop or smartphone to reach more people with more relevant ads. Since it’s a Sunday morning and you’re based in a strip mall that’s easily accessible, Google AdWords Enhanced will make sure to take your location into account. Also, if you’re sending out an ad from your smartphone, Google can recognize that this is a spur of the moment decision – you need customers now –  and will target anyone searching for a quick hair appointment on a Sunday. Getting in touch with people that need your services is faster than ever.

Another great factor of the new and improved Google AdWords Enhanced is all the additional tools that come with it.

  • Enhanced Campaign Upgrade Guide – this a step by step breakdown of how to upgrade your current ads to the new AdWords Enhanced ads.
  • Webinars – speaks for itself, webinars (or web seminars), are great for enhancing your campaign and you can register to find out when new ones will be released.
  • AdWords Help Centre – No one’s perfect, so don’t fret if you don’t get the hang of this new process right off the bat. That’s what the help centre is for with detailed information and specific features to help you out.
  • AdWords Blog – It’s important to stay informed. The AdWords blog is a great way to check out articles on enhanced campaigns.

Google’s tagline for the new AdWords Enhanced is “Marketing for a constantly connected world”, and it’s true. Our world has become much smaller through the use of online marketing and connecting via internet; Google is simply acknowledging the fact that we live in a much faster world than ever before and we have to keep up.

Recently, however, there have been stirrings of some advertisers saying that this new version of Google Ads isn’t an improvement at all – in fact they think its restrictive. They claim that while it may be simplified, Google’s new tactic is nice in theory, but realistically takes away a certain amount of control.

What are your thoughts? Is Google AdWords here to stay? Is it a change for the better or for the worse? And what are your concerns? Let us know in the comments section, we’d love to hear from you.

This new campaign should work perfectly for me, because I’m not really a pro in this field and any tool that makes it easier for me should work fine for me… I understand what other professional advertisers are saying about the level of customization, but this would be a great tool for us beginners.

    Another tool….. NOOOOO
It’s already confusing enough for me.

  • Maya D says:

can you put up a course teaching us how to work with this campaign? I’m already struggling with CPC and CPM..;)

  • Alda Sticklin says:

Google Adwords is a powerful tool that you can use to drive large amounts of qualified traffic to your website within a short period of time. There are also a number of benefits to be gained from using a company that is Google Adwords qualified. You will often deal with a consultant who is very experienced with the company. If you have a website that is still in the Google sandbox, Adwords is the method you will want to use to get targeted traffic to your site. Once a website has been placed in the sandbox, it can take months for it to begin getting targeted traffic from Google. If you have invested a great deal of time and money in your site, this is time you don’t want to waste…””-
