3 Ways To Use Twitter For Your Business

Whenever Twitter is mentioned as a tool for sales and marketing, people continue to brush it off and disagree, but the truth is that Twitter is effective. For businesses that perhaps can’t quite afford high scale marketing techniques, Twitter is the way to go. Here is our list of ways to use Twitter for sales and marketing:

[success]1. Brand Awareness[/success]

Slogan-developaweb.comUsing your Twitter to promote your brand is genius. Use it as your Twitter profile picture, make the name a part of your handle, talk about the brand in your bio. It really works and people will pay attention. Don’t believe us? Just check out the Twitter pages of Starbucks (@MyStarbucksIdea), Samsung (@SamsungMobileUS) and The Home Depot (@TheHomeDepot) – all of them using Twitter to reach out to customers, post new promotions, and respond to customer feedback.

[success]2. Promotions and Contests[/success]

ecommerceAs mentioned, big companies are already using Twitter as a platform for contests and special promotions, so why don’t you? It doesn’t have to be anything huge or overly complex. It can be as simple as “The first 1000 people to re-tweet will get a special promo code for our online store” or you can get creative and encourage people to take twit-pics with your product and the funniest or most inventive picture wins a gift card. The bottom line is people love contests, they’re fun and who wouldn’t want to try and win some cool stuff? Try it out, you’ll be surprised at the results!

They are following you on Twitter for a reason, so interact! Ask them questions and they’ll respond almost immediately. If they tweet you, tweet them back! Obviously interacting with so many people is a lot of work and our recommendations are twofold. First, if you feel that you’d rather manage the social media aspect of your business personally, then make time for it during a lunch break or after the work day is done. Secondly, if you really don’t have the time, have a meeting with your employees and see which one of them is well versed in social media. Appoint them as your official Twitter controller and make sure you approve all outgoing tweets before they are sent.

Thanks for sharing a whole article on this. I used Facebook for advertisements but never tried Twitter as I am not very much into Twitter. But I will try using it now.

I follow a whole bunch of companies on Twitter.List starts from luxury brands like Gucci, Holt Renfrew to restaurants such as Tim Horton’s and Starbucks! They really keep us up to date of what’s going on in the stores. So yes I agree that Twitter is surely a great tool of advertisements.

Very informative. I think now people pay more attention on Facebook or Twitter advertisements than any other media. The process is also very quick and easy. There are so many different ways of involving people through Twitter!

Sorry, but I just don’t get Twitter. Who actually has time to constantly be “tweeted” or “twitted” or constantly reaching for their phone. Isn’t like more than that? Really, people …

      Hi Nita,

While Twitter may not be a tool of choice personally, it’s become a great marketing tool for a lot of small businesses and startups!

We appreciate your comment though, we know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea!
